Carrie Ellmore has been inspired since she was twelve to become a dancer.  She grew up in Hamilton Virginia and began dancing at the Loudoun School of Ballet.  It was at the Loudoun School where she and four other dancers produced and danced in their first choreographic showcase called "Five Dancers."  Carrie continued her training at the Russell School of Ballet.  When she was sixteen she competed and won a cash award of excellence in dance at the third Virginia Fine Arts Scholarship program for a solo she choreographed on herself.

After high school she went to college at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and graduated with a BFA (cum laude) in dance.  While in college she performed with Dayton Contemporary's second company.  The Conservatory's program allowed the students to choreograph for the annual "Choreographers Showcase."  Carrie's choreography  was selected from the showcase to be included with the next faculty showcase.  During this time Carrie was fortunate to have worked as a choreographer to composer Bright Sheng's opera production of "Song of Majnun", which premiered at Cincinnati's College of Music Corbett Auditorium.

Upon graduating carrie moved to Philadelphia to dance for Philadanco ( Philadelphia Dance Company), dancing in works by Milton Myers, Talley Beatty, Blondell Cummings, and Elisa Monte.  Other artists and companies Carrie has danced with include Pascal Rioult, Coyote Dancers, Mereminne Dancers, Andrea Haenggi/AMDaT,  Analysis Dance, Erica Dankmeyer, Sandra Kaufmann, Henning Rubsam, and Martha Clarke and Azsure Barton.

Carrie currently is a soloist with the  Martha Graham Dance Company, touring domestically and internationally.  Check out the calendar page for upcoming performances and teaching page for master classes and workshops!
